Instrument Parties

Out of an interest in recycling and conservation, I have developed instrument-making workshops in which children (and adults) make a variety of musical instruments out of ordinary household recyclables.

In these workshops, children are encouraged to be as creative as they want, both in decorating and in inventing their own instruments. I supply enough materials for everyone, but children are welcome to bring their own as well.

We have held these workshops in several area libraries and community centers, and they are always a big hit. Some parents like to get involved with making the instruments too. Activities are mainly geared toward ages 5 - 9, but there are often older children who get very involved with creating more complex instruments. Younger children will need an adult to stay with them.

To arrange a workshop contact me at mhelfrick@netzero.com or call 508 652-9779.

Birthday Parties

Looking for a unique activity for a birthday party? How about constructing musical instruments out of found objects and ending with a jam session? Contact me for details.

Other Workshops

I also do workshops for older children (and adults) who want to make more substantial instruments out of wood and/or cardboard.

Check the schedule (on Events page) for dates.
